After completing the clinical fellowship in HPB Surgery, the trainee is expected to have a high level of competence in the surgical management of patients with HPB diseases with an emphasis in HPB malignancy. Through close interaction with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, interventional radiologists, biliary endoscopists and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, the trainee develops understanding and expertise in the multi-modality treatment of patients with complex surgical disorders of the liver, pancreas and biliary tract. The fellow is involved in all aspects of peri-operative care including inpatient and outpatient care. On-call responsibilities are shared with a chief resident and two transplant fellows and require availability during the week and every other weekend. No in-house call is required.
